Demonstration of Religious Secondary Principles in the Content of Persian Language Textbooks at Elementary and Secondary Levels

Abstract

This research is intended to have a content analysis on Persian language textbooks at elementary and secondary schools in terms of paying attention to the secondary principles of religion through descriptive method and content analysis. The research community contains the Persian language textbooks at elementary and secondary schools (grades 1 to 12) in the academic year of 1396. Due to the nature of the research and the limited research community, no sample was selected and the whole statistical community was used as the statistical community.  A checklist was used as the measurement tool to cover the secondary principles of religion. It was validated scientifically, and its reliability was 0.93 according to the agreement of evaluators. The results were analyzed through descriptive statistics indicators of Shannon entropy analytical process. The most important findings of the research indicated that Persian language textbooks contained secondary principles of religion as much as 411 times. The  importance distribution coefficient of the secondary principles of prayer, fasting, khums, zakat, hajj, jihad,  enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, and love and hate turned out to be as much as 0.148, 0.059, 0.001, 0.079, 0.144, 0.155, 0.142, 0.153, and 0.123 respectively.
